While the compact mahogany body, whose resonance chambers are closed by a curved maple top, guarantees first-class handling of the guitar for standing and sitting playing, the glued "Thin and Mahogany neck lies comfortably in the hand, so that riffs and licks on the 22-fret Indian-Laurel fingerboard go off with ease.

Gretsch chooses two Black Top Broad'Tron pickups as the pickup for the G5222LH Electromatic Double Jet BT Lefthand. Inspired by classic Vintage pickups, the pickups deliver a brilliant tone that expertly captures the resonant character of the chambered mahogany body. In addition, the pickup has a well-measured output that lets clean sounds sound with the necessary portion of pressure, while Overdrive comes up with the perfect portion of aggressiveness and growl. The Black Top Broad'Trons are controlled by the classic Gretsch 3-way circuit, which adds separate volume controls for each pickup and a treble cutoff and master volume.
