The Guild D-140CE at a glance
The Guild D-140CE has all the attributes that a true dreadnought western guitar should contain. Composed of solid tonewoods, the instrument produces a rich sound that unfolds extensively even with a light touch of the 6 steel strings. In addition to the extra-flat bracing, the ultra-thin high-gloss finish is also responsible for this, which also gives the guitar a traditional and classy appearance. The flat neck also offers the player a very high level of playing comfort, so that even complex fingering patterns become child's play. Furthermore, the generous cutaway provides optimized access to the highest of the 20 frets. The finely tuned Hardware and the open tuners help the Guild D-140CE to a clean intonation on the entire scale length of 648 mm. The scope of delivery includes a sturdy gray gig bag with backpack straps and a large accessory compartment.
The body of the Guild D-140CE consists of a Sitka spruce top, and mahogany back and sides
Very fine guitar indeed. My main acoustic guitar is a Martin 0000-28H, Costing about four times the price of this Guild. My very first proper acoustic guitar was a Guild F 30 back in 1978 – I’ve always loved the way Gill did you tell us going to try to be either at Martin or a Gibson but they have their own voice. All solid wood, very thin poly finish, I tried the D1 20 all mahogany version but I wanted something with a spruce top to give that extra projection and more open voice. This guitar has that in spades. Remarkable difference in tone and volume between fingerpicking and using a pick. It’s brand-new, needs playing in to loosen up but at this price point I am gobsmacked by the quality and playability of this instrument. Nice to have the slightly wider nut Which helps with first position chords and fingerpicking. The fact that DV247 are clearly opened the packaging, checked the guitar thoroughly and re-packaged everything inside one of their own large sturdy boxes was a nice touch, As a week or two ago I ordered a guitar have a very similar spec from another supplier and it arrived completely trashed and obviously hadn’t been inspected before shipping.
