Are there classical guitars for left-handed players?

Yes, there are specially built classical guitars for left-handed players. Because many instruments are designed as standard for right-handed use, the selection for left-handed players is smaller, but well-known manufacturers still offer suitable models from entry-level instruments to professional versions. Left-handed classical guitars have a mirrored string arrangement, with the lowest string positioned at the top. In addition, the body shape, neck orientation and overall ergonomics are adapted for left-handed playing.

Can you simply turn a right-handed guitar upside down?

In most cases, that is not a good solution. Turning a standard guitar around often leads to problems with ergonomics, playing technique and intonation. On electro-acoustic models, controls may be positioned awkwardly, cutaways end up on the wrong side, and details such as the nut, saddle and other construction elements are not designed for this type of use. A proper left-handed classical guitar therefore provides a much better basis for developing playing comfort, sound and technique right from the start.
