The initiative "Die Carusos!" of the German Choir Association wants to make singing in kindergarten and preschool age a natural part of everyday life. This song book contains an extensive and varied treasure of popular folk songs, children's classics, newer dance, play and movement songs as well as some commissioned compositions on themes from the children's world today. Not only the daily rituals, such as tidying up, dressing and eating, offer cause for singing, but also important interpersonal questions, such as friendship, farewell and death. With numerous foreign-language songs, the collection also takes into account the fact that children in Germany grow up with a wide variety of cultural and linguistic knowledge. Selected children's songs, for example, encourage festivals all over the world to integrate traditions from other countries into everyday life. The specially produced German singable transmissions form an important bridge to these songs.
