Viktor Kosenko is considered one of the most influential piano teachers in his home country, Ukraine. A composer, teacher and pianist, he contributed significantly to the development of his country's national piano school. His original combinations of late romanticism and modernism in the compositional style of major and minor tonality is basically the subject of piano education. In his short life of only 42 years, he created about 250 compositions, including 100 piano pieces.

New possibilities through a different method

With 24 Children's Pieces for Piano 2, piano students are given access to the pedagogically valuable pieces of the Eastern European Piano School for the first time outside of Ukraine. In a total of 3 individual volumes, the method conveys numerous important contents of piano playing. Thus it confronts children and young people with technical playing requirements such as the difference between Legato and staccato, a sustained pianistic cantilena, leaps, triadic breaks or scales. These are sorted chronologically in ascending difficulty, providing a pleasant way to gradually build skills.

Also, with these melodies, students are opened to another culture, which contributes to the expansion of horizons. With songs and dances from Ukrainian folk music and other regions, images of nature, figures and games from everyday life in childhood and adolescence, as well as corresponding emotions and different moods, they open up a completely new world and make instrumental lessons varied and flexible. The moderately difficult arrangements are aimed specifically at advanced students.
