The Herchild 670 is a single-channel tube-based variable mu compressor inspired by the legendary Fairchild 670. Not only the external appearance, but also the internal components are in no way inferior to the original. The Herchild 670 houses a total of 22 tubes and 9 transformers, which are operated with high voltage. This results in a clean, transparent sound without annoying artifacts. In addition, the device can also produce a heavy and dense effect with the overtones of the audio signal. The fact that the compressor, like the original, works with a gradually developing ratio curve means that no fixed ratios can be specified for the threshold, but there are four threshold curve options that can be set using the large "DC Threshold" rotary control. The amount of compression is adjusted using the " AC Threshold" control. The attack and release times on the Herchild 670 are controlled via a rasterized rotary potentiometer with 6 time constant presets. Position 1, for example, corresponds to an attack time of 0.2ms and Release of 0.3 seconds. The device also has a side chain filter with four setting options at 50Hz, 100Hz, 200Hz and 350Hz and offers four different operating modes:"IND" for individual operation of both channels,"LINK" for stereo operation, "LAT VERT" for mid-side (upper channel mid, lower channel side signal) and "LAT VERT LINK" for mid-side linked.
