Noise Generator Module

Hexinverter VCNO is a voltage-controlled, discretely designed noise generator module for modular Eurorack synthesizers. The method of noise generation is based on methods such as those used in earlier computers and sound chips, but with the decisive difference that the circuits implemented in VCNO are based on (analog) discrete logic, without the use of software or microcontrollers.

More VCO than noise

VCNO´s Parameters can be controlled via control voltage, providing the modular user with lively possibilities for creative sound design. For example, it is possible to control the pitch of the noise via a CV input and to pick up the signal simultaneously via several outputs - each with its own distinctive character for creating assertive noise textures
and VCNO is also ideal for feeding external audio inputs of mutant drums (or other drum modules) to conjure up lively percussion sounds
.

Three different outputs with their own character

Each of the three alternatives is based on completely different circuits:

  • SCREECH directs dark, howling overtones to the Main NOISE output
  • SIZZLE can be varied from pure white noise to vinyl-like crackling noises via a controller
  • TEAR sounds sound as if the noise generator is broken :D

All outputs work simultaneously and can be controlled simultaneously by the pitch control or by CV
