The Höfner HCT-500/1-SB Contemporary Violin Bass (Sunburst) is a 4-String Electric Bass, and the Contemporary Series version of the ever popular Violin Bass. The Contemporary Violin Bass features a completely Hollow Body consisting of a Flame Maple Back and Sides that are joined by a Spruce Top, a combination that hasn’t changed since its first inception and one of the main factors of its signature sound. The Body is joined by a Slim Profile Short-Scale Flame Maple/Beech/Flame Maple Neck that is topped with a 22-Fret Jatoba Fingerboard with White Pearl Dot-Inlays.
The body of the Contemporary Violin Bass is fitted with 2x Höfner Staple Pick-Ups, another major contributing factor to the signature Violin Bass Sound. These are accompanied by a Control Circuit that consists of Dual Volume Controls, On/Off Switches for both Pick-Ups and a Rhythm/Solo Circuit Select Switch. This set-up allows for the classic Violin Bass Tone to be easily dialled in, whilst also being versatile enough to produce a range of more modern Tones.

As a Beatles fan I was skeptic about the Hofner CT500/1. But oh surprise, it's beautifully built and finished. I replaced the Knobs also available in Music Store Professional ( Höfner H909/15 Gold Top Knob) is looking really good. The color is exactly what I expected (not orangy like in lower models, rather elegant tobacco) just like in the pictures of the Fab Four.
The sound is amazing a mix of classic and contemporary sound. The delivery was fast and always able to track it. I recommend buying in Music Store professional the Hofner 500/1 Violin Bass as an excellent affordable instrument for any style of music.
