While the well-known RGD design with flat Nyatoh body and fast "Wizard III-8" neck promises excellent playing characteristics, the multiscale construction with extra-long scales for each string and active Fishman Fluence pickups create the basis for tight and multifaceted metal sounds with contemporary sound character. Last but not least, Ibanez completes the Axe Design Lab Standard RGDMS8-CSM Classic Silver matte electric guitar with reliable attachments in the form of tuning-stable Gotoh locking tuners and eight mono-rail bridges.

In designing the Axe Design Lab RGDMS8, Ibanez pays special attention to agile playing characteristics and a directly responsive sound with tight representation of each string. The trendy multiscale construction with increasing scale lengths between 25.5" and 27.25" (648 mm and 692 mm) gives each string optimal tension so that even deep tunings penetrate the ear with razor-sharp articulation. While the sleek design of the Nyatoh body relies on a large-scale and ergonomic shape to achieve a snug playing position with perfect balance, wide cutaways and the flowing All Access Neck Joint allow unobstructed access to the highest registers of the bolt-on maple-walnut neck. With its wide, but pleasantly flat "Wizard III-8" profile, it creates the best conditions for the easiest implementation of the most accomplished playing techniques.

In order to elicit adequate metal sounds from the guitar amplifier with a contemporary powerful sound character, Ibanez equips the RGDMS8 eight-stringer from the Axe Design Lab with a Set of innovative Fishman Fluence pickups. With two distinct voicings each and the additional option for coil split, the Fishman Fluence Modern Alnico pickup placed on the neck and the Fishman Fluence Modern Ceramic pickup in the bridge position deliver a particularly diverse sound that ranges from crisp distortion sounds of modern character to rich traditional tones and glassy single coils, and also presents the deepest tunings with razor-sharp articulation. In addition to the 3-way toggle switch for pickup selection and the mini switch for coil split mode, the 8-string electric guitar's straightforward circuitry features a master volume pot that also houses the push/pull switch for changing pickup voicings.
