In the design of the Standard SML721 electric guitar, Ibanez pays special attention to first-class playing characteristics and a harmonically perfectly balanced sound. As a pickup for the Axe Design Lab SML721 guitar Ibanez chooses two Q58 humbuckers known from the headless Q series. As contemporary ceramic pickups, the dual coils convince with a clearly defined sound image that cleanly reproduces even complex chord structures and skillfully asserts itself with powerful mids and crisp but never harsh highs even in the densest Mix. In order to elicit, particularly multifaceted clean and overdrive sounds from the guitar amplifier, Ibanez also combines the Q58 pickups with the complex dyna-MIX10 electrics, which thanks to the 5-way pickup switch and age switch provides a total of ten different switching of the pickups or their coils. In addition, general volume and tone controls are available for adjusting the sound.
