Modern multiscale Bass in BTB design
The Ibanez Bass Workshop BTB605MLM-PWM Pearl White Matte expands the Ibanez Bass line-up with a BTB model in a trendy multiscale design. Carefully matched tonewoods and the scale lengths increasing from 34" (864 mm) to 35" (889 mm) create the optimum basis for an extremely precise sound reproduction from the highest to the lowest string, while the wide neck with fanned frets provides optimum playing characteristics. With two Ibanez T1 pickups and an active 3-band equalizer, the multiscale five-string delivers a particularly rich sound spectrum with the right sounds for almost any style of music. The Bass Workshop Workshop BTB605MLM-PWM Pearl White matte E-Bass by Ibanez is completed by indestructible Hardware in the form of Ibanez mono-rail single bridges and precise die-cast bass tuners.
The Ibanez Bass Workshop BTB605MLM-PWM Pearl White Matte is a solid multiscale bass with fine tonewoods and first-class features.
While the full-length neck is made of maple and walnut, the body wings are made of okoume.
Multiscale bass with neck-through construction
To give the Bass Workshop BTB805MS a cultivated sound with accurate representation of the highest and lowest notes, Ibanez relies on a neck-through construction with first-class tonewoods and multiscale scale, which provides the optimum length for each string to develop the sound, ranging from 34" on the G string (864 mm) to 35" on the low B (889 mm). At the same time, the flat "BTB5" profile of the full-length, graphite-reinforced maple-walnut neck provides agile playing characteristics, so that grooves between the 24 stainless steel frets of the maple fingerboard can be played with ease. Okoumé body wings complete the five-string E-Bass from Ibanez.
Ibanez T1 pickups with active Custom Electronics 3-band EQ elicit a broad sound spectrum from the bass amp.
Flexible sound thanks to T1 pickups and active EQ
On the bass amplifier, the Bass Workshop BTB805MS Bass presents itself as an absolute all-rounder that feels at home in almost any style of music. The special design of the Ibanez T1 Bass pickups promises an accurate yet powerful reproduction of every note played. For precise tone adjustment, the electric bass guitar is also equipped with an active Ibanez Custom Electronic 3-band equalizer, whose mid-range control has three selectable center frequencies. The EQ bypass switch also switches the five-string to passive mode.
Die-cast mechanisms with precise running guarantee high tuning stability.
High-quality hardware equipment
Last but not least, Ibanez completes the Bass Workshop Workshop BTB605MLM-PWM Pearl White matte E-Bass with high-quality and reliable hardware. Five Ibanez MR5S mono-rail single bridges guarantee precise intonation adjustment and optimum string action. Behind the zero fret and nut, Ibanez die-cast bass tuners ensure accurate and robust tuning of the five-string electric bass.
This is a serious bass for low-tuning. The sound is great and fits low-tuned genres very well.
I like the playability of Ibanez guitars and basses, I own and have owned multiple instruments from them and can say that this bass is not an exception. Despite the long neck and fanned frets, it's very easy to play.
The only downside for me is the "BTB edge" that creates a small pressure point on your right wrist, because the body is not contoured there. I think I can get used to that in a while. The hard case is great and it's nice to have that included, especially when bags or cases are harder to find for these long neck basses.
