Neck-through construction with an authentic double bass feel

In order to come as close as possible to the feel of a full-grown double bass, Ibanez has opted for an elaborate neck-through construction for the Bass Workshop UB804 Electric Upright Bass. The heart of the Bass is undoubtedly the full-length maple and walnut neckand the long 34" scale length (864 mm), which guarantee a clean string response for both arco and pizzicato playing. The strong and rounded "UB4" neck profile and the tight compound radius of the Jatoba fingerboard also convey the authentic playing characteristics of a classical double bass. The small dot inlays are also a practical detail, helping to ensure clean intonation.

While the volume and tone controls on the side allow the general sound to be adjusted, the piezo pickups of the active AeroSilk system are located in the monorail bridges.

AeroSilk pickup system

On the bass amplifier, the Ibanez Bass Workshop UB804 Upswing Bass impresses with an official double bass tone that reproduces both bowed arco techniques and plucked pizzicato playing with natural dynamics and enormous detail. The innovative AeroSilk pickup system with piezo elements in the mono-rail bridges and active preamp is responsible for this. In addition to four gain controls for perfectly tuning the sound balance of each string, the system offers general volume and tone potentiometers for quickly adjusting the sound on stage.
