Neck-through construction with authentic double bass feeling
To closely replicate the playing feel of a full-sized double bass, the UB805 features a neck-through-body design. Its core is a multi-piece maple and walnut neck that extends through the entire instrument, paired with a standard 34" scale length (864 mm) for accurate response whether playing arco or pizzicato. The thick, rounded “UB5” neck profile and compound-radius jatoba fingerboard contribute to the upright feel, while small dot inlays offer subtle yet practical visual guides for accurate intonation.
While the side Volume and Tone controls allow you to adjust the general sound, the piezo pickups of the active AeroSilk system are located in the mono-rail bridges.

Plugged in, the UB805 impresses with an authentic upright bass tone that integrates the low B-string with clarity and precision. The AeroSilk pickup system – featuring piezo elementsembedded in custom mono-rail saddles and an active preamp – captures both bowed and plucked techniques with exceptional dynamic range and tonal detail. Each string’s volume can be fine-tuned individually via five dedicated trim controls, while master volume and tone knobs allow quick adjustments during live performances.
The openwork headstock of the Ibanez UB805 bass carries die-cast tuning machines for great tuning stability.
