The Ibanez Standard RG7421EX-BKF Black Flat is a workhorse tuned for metal from head to toe, clearly designed for driving riffs and neat shredding, both visually and sonically. The 7-string electric guitar with its elegant matte black look is based on the RG design, which is extremely popular among fans of the heavier genre. It comes with interesting features: two powerful humbuckers for first-class metal sounds and a particularly slim neck, ideal for more technically demanding fretboard action.

The RG body of the Ibanez Standard RG7421EX-BKF Black Flat is made of resonant meranti with classic pointed contours and wide cutaways. It always offers a comfortable playing position, even during longer sessions, thanks to the generous tummy cut and a practical forearm contour. For the fretting hand, the Wizard II-7 neck made from three strips of maple offers unhindered playability, which is not restricted thanks to the proven Ibanez All-Access Neck Joint, even when playing in the highest fingerboard positions.
The two Ibanez Quantum 7 humbuckers are versions of the extremely popular Quantum pickups specially made for 7-strings. They produce a powerful sound that excels especially in the high-gain range. The Ibanez Standard RG7421EX-BKF Black Flat also covers other sound requirements without any problems, thanks to its versatile circuitry. It is equipped with a pickup selector switch with five positions and offers particularly interesting switching options, including parallel switching of the neck humbucker.
The Ibanez F107 fixed bridge in seven-string design ensures particularly tight sounds with a firm, attack-rich response by promoting direct resonance transmission into the body. It also offers numerous adjustment options to optimize string height and intonation for different string gauges and tunings. The Ibanez Standard RG7421EX-BKF Black Flat is completed by seven die-cast tuners and visually appealing dome potentiometer caps in a uniform black finish.
Ibanez Standard RG7421EX-BKF Black FlatGuitar arrived in a good condition. A quick look inspection revealed a flaw in the neck, there was a scratch mark. The back covers weren't flush with the body. Playing wise, the action was a bit too high so I needed to lower it a bit. The frets are horrible, scratchy & needed polishing and filing. The fingerboard was dry and needed some hydration. Electronics are perfect and did not require any more work, but the pickup needed height adjustment. Tuners are in good condition as well. The guitar was not tuned out of the box but that's fine.
Very interesting guitar. A liitle on the heavy side but still quite enjoyable. The neck is beautiful, smooth and fast, but the frets came kind of rough from factory. Sound and overall looks are very good, although it is not black but more like a very dark shade of grey Had a little problem with tune instability, solved by adding a string retainer bar at the headstock.
