The Jackson Audio The Optimist Overdrive, designed in collaboration with funk virtuoso Corey Wong, is a highly versatile overdrive pedal that delivers a wide range of tone from sustain-rich solos to crisp rhythm licks. Its dual overdrive circuits form the foundation for crafting the perfect guitar sound, while the active Baxandall-style EQ allows for precise tonal shaping. Additionally, The Optimist can be integrated into complex live or studio setups via MIDI.

Two channels with independent character

At the core of The Optimist are two overdrive channels with distinct voicing, usable individually or together:

• OD 1: Features mythical vintage-inspired tones with germanium diodes, offering dynamic response, mid-focused character, and warm, sustaining solo sounds.
• OD 2: Provides a tonally neutral, full-range overdrive, ideal for transparent drive or rhythm work.

Each channel has its own Gain, Tone, and Volume controls, allowing for precise shaping of your sound.

3-Band Equalizer

The pedal also includes an active 3-band EQ, activated by pressing both footswitches simultaneously. This EQ operates independently of the drive channels and is placed at the end of the internal signal chain. Based on the Baxandall principle and tuned for the electric guitar’s frequency range, it delivers a natural, balanced sound even at extreme settings
