The KHDK Abyss Bass Overdrive marks Kirk Hammett's entry into the world of bass effects. Based on a completely analog circuit, the KHDK Abyss offers two gain modes, with which tubular, slightly compressing overdrive as well as most brutal distortion can be realized. The signal is split internally and fed to a clean path, which reproduces the dynamics and instrument character unaltered, as well as to the distortion circuit. The "Dirty" and "Treble" knobs allow the two signal paths to be individually mixed together, preserving punch and definition of the bass tone even in the most extreme distortions.
