The Kawai GX series combines traditional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art technology: years of experience in the philosophy of Japanese grand piano construction and a design that exceeds all expectations form instruments that are particularly appreciated by the best pianists. The GX-2 belongs to the family of parlor grand pianos and, with a length of 180 cm, is the world's most popular grand piano size for every home.
All instruments in the GX series use a Millenium III mechanism, which is already familiar in a simplified form from the instruments in the GL grand piano series and the Novus NV12 from Kawai. For the GX-2, the keyboard has been significantly extended again, which ensures a more balanced feel between the black and white keys and leads to greater expression and precision. The action is reinforced with a combination of ABS resin and carbon fiber - making it more durable and stronger, but also lighter and more precise than conventional tuners.
Calm but loud, strong yet delicate: rich and deep basses as well as brilliant sustained notes in the treble, which are additionally enriched with overtone vibrations by means of the duplex scale, giving the sound more depth and breadth. Kawai grand pianos are known for the smoothness of their tuners and the associated dynamic expression. The Kawai GX-2 offers maximum precision and tonal balance from pianissimo to fortissimo - with pianissimo being a particular strength.
All the woods used are meticulously examined for quality and character and selected to match. The choice of the right wood for the soundboard, which has a decisive influence on the sound of the grand piano, is particularly important. Fine-grained spruce wood with particularly close growth rings is used to give the low notes warmth and make the treble sound radiant. Hammer felts made from New Zealand and Australian long-hair wool allow even the most demanding intonations and the maximum sound volume of the grand piano to be exploited.
