The B.Beat Plus 256GB from M-Live is a versatile playback device for solo entertainers, featuring a built-in digital mixer and HDMI video output. The B.Beat reads and plays music and media files in the following formats: WAV, multitrack audio, stems, MIDI, MP4 video, MOV and JPG. Backing tracks ranging from MP3 files to extensive multitrack audio projects from a DAW can be used with up to 16 mono or 8 stereo tracks. It is also possible to output the backing tracks in sync with videos or visual material via the HDMI output to a monitor, projector or video wall.
The integrated digital mixer combines all sources and allows for convenient adjustment of all volume levels. The levels for backing tracks, the metronome click, the line input and the master volume are directly accessible; this is very handy for getting straight to the essentials. The M-Live B.Beat is equipped with a total of six audio outputs, which allow backing tracks and other tracks to be ‘pre-routed’ to the band’s or solo performer’s stage mixer. In addition, B.Beat detects the click track and can route it to one of the six available outputs and simultaneously to the headphone output. This is particularly important for fellow musicians who cannot benefit from a MIDI clock.
The greatly enhanced Plus version!
The Plus version of the B.Beat desktop model is the most powerful version to date. It combines all the features that have made B.Beat the standard for live playback, whilst also offering new functions for musicians and bands who want complete control over their sound and performance.
The device is optimised for maximum reliability. A special Live Mode pushes the processor to its limits, ensuring everything runs smoothly during a performance; this is also achieved by suspending secondary background processes. The idea behind B.Beat is to simplify the management of backing tracks and videos during a show. Putting together performances and projects is delightfully straightforward and can even be done directly on the device. A project can contain music, MIDI tracks, videos and images, and can even send content to external equipment. On the one hand, this supports the musician by offering more possibilities; on the other, it enhances the audience experience by, for example, displaying song lyrics via a video projector so they can sing along. Audio tracks created at home or in the studio using a DAW can be transferred to B.Beat. A bundled app that runs on Windows and Mac computers allows you to conveniently put together projects, as well as assign and customise tracks. If you want to play a video in sync with the music, you can upload it to B.Beat and manage it alongside the backing tracks – and, of course, play it back independently of other media.
B.Beat can read files in MTA format (Multitrack Audio) distributed by M-Live via the Song Service website. MTA files are multitrack files that B.Beat reads as 8 stereo tracks; backing tracks are organised as follows:
