The MFB Visual VCA is a voltage controlled analog amplifier module with oscilloscope in Eurorack format. The signal amplification can be controlled via the CV inputs. CV1 is normally controlled with an envelope, while CV2, which can only be used in conjunction with CV1, is best suited for modulation effects. The integrated oscilloscope shows the waveform of the input signal and has a resolution of 128 x 64 pixels. The sampling frequency can be set with the interval controller.
MFB Visual VCAAlthough the LCD looks quite small, it serves as a very readable display of audio waveforms. The VCA performs quite well, with 2 CV inputs & attenuators.
It lacks a few features that I would like to have in such a device:
1. It does not display LFO waveforms below audio frequencies.
2. It does not display ADSR shapes.
3. These is no output attenuator.
However, despite these omissions, it is still a very useful module to have. I have not seen anything else which provides a basic oscilloscope display, along with the VCA facilities, for anywhere near this low price.
