New features & improvements
MOTU presents Digital Performer 11, a comprehensive digital audio workstation(DAW) that allows you to not only create, edit and mix professional recordings, but also compose extensive pieces. As in the previous versions, the software offers a lot of useful audio tools to optimize your workflow and get the best out of your recordings and VSTs. naturally DP 11 also brings a lot of useful innovations and improvements that allow you to work even more efficiently and thus produce your next hit!
It doesn't matter if you are a Mac or Windows user, because compatibility is a top priority in this version. This includes the use of various external MIDI controllers, surfaces and plugins.
Furthermore, this is an EDU version for students in German language, which makes it even easier for you to find functions and features and integrate them into your workflow.
If you enjoy working with samples, reshaping them and creating truly unique sounds, Nanosampler 2.0 will quickly become a favorite tool. The updated sampler now offers three playback modes, Classic, One Shot and Slice, along with ZTX time stretching, envelope and LFO modulation, as well as trigger and gate playback. Click noise can be reduced using the snapping function, samples can be reversed or looped with ease, and fade ins, fade outs and volume can be adjusted manually. Samples with 32 bit and 64 bit floating point support can be imported effortlessly via drag and drop.
Composers and producers benefit from flexible articulation maps that provide full control over modern and expressive orchestral libraries. Whether you work with VSL, EastWest, Spitfire or Cinesamples, you can create or import maps to design dynamic instruments and ensembles and program performances with an impressive level of realism. At the same time, articulation maps are ideal for live playing, allowing for expressive and musically impactful performances.
Virtual notation is also available, enabling you to set articulations, tremolos, trills and more in a traditional notation style and bring them to life within the DAW using appropriate virtual instruments.
Digital Performer 11 now allows you to record standard MIDI notes with multi channel expression data from an MPE controller such as the Roli Seaboard. Instead of having notes and controller data spread across multiple tracks, you now receive a single stream of MIDI notes, each with its own expressive information. This results in a far more intuitive workflow and clearer project overview. You can hide or show per note controllers, view pitch variations in the familiar piano roll and independently scale the note grid and controller data.
To help you get started immediately, a selection of VST instruments and virtual synthesizers is included
A number of subtle yet highly practical audio tools help save time and simplify everyday tasks. For example, you can scale controller data within individual notes, open sub tracks for MPE expression data per note and activate retroactive recording. Transposing and quantizing can be performed with a single click. Visual comfort is improved through scalable fonts, dynamically resizing mixer sliders and enhanced text rendering in Windows 10, resulting in sharper and clearer on screen text.
Everyone knows the situation where a spontaneous melody or riff emerges while singing or playing, only to be forgotten moments later because recording was not enabled.
This is where DP 11 proves invaluable. By simply selecting the Retroactive Recording command, your moment of inspiration is instantly captured in a track, even if recording was not running beforehand. This works for both MIDI and audio, ensuring no idea is ever lost.
The unique Chunks feature allows you to manage multiple sequences, songs and V Racks within a single Digital Performer project file, making it ideal for film scoring and live setlists. In DP 11, chunks can now be organized into folders and playlists for improved clarity.
The chunk list can be split into two sections for easier management. For example, you can search for a chunk in the upper section and assign it to a new position in the lower section. Organizing complex projects has never been this straightforward.
Novation and Akai pad controllers are now even easier to integrate, allowing you to focus fully on live performance. Use the pads to play content from DP’s powerful Clips window, trigger individual clips or entire scenes, apply filter sweeps and other effects, and perform live without complex setup requirements.Owners of Native Instruments or iCON controllers are also well supported. Digital Performer 11 includes new control surface plugins for current devices, enabling faster and more intuitive operation. Supported hardware includes the M32, A Series and S Series controllers, as well as iCON mixing surfaces such as the QCon Pro G2 and EX, Pro X and XS, Platform Nano and Platform M and X Series.
Further hardware compatibility
Console 1 and EuCon console users can also take full advantage of the update and benefit from an improved and more fluid workflow. This results in a more enjoyable mixing experience and allows you to focus entirely on your music.
