New features & improvements
MOTU presents Digital Performer 11, a comprehensive digital audio workstation that lets you create, edit, mix, and compose professional productions and large scale musical works. As in previous versions, the software offers a wide range of powerful audio tools designed to optimize your workflow and get the most out of your recordings and VST instruments. Naturally, DP 11 also introduces numerous new features and refinements that allow you to work even more efficiently and bring your next production to life. Whether you are working on macOS or Windows, cross platform compatibility is a key focus of this version. This includes extensive support for external MIDI controllers, control surfaces, and third party plugins. This edition is an update from previous Digital Performer versions and is fully available in German, making it easier to find functions, understand features, and integrate them smoothly into your daily workflow.
If you enjoy working with samples, reshaping them, and creating entirely new and distinctive sounds, Nanosampler 2.0 will quickly become one of your favorite tools. The updated sampler now offers three playback modes, Classic, One Shot, and Slice, along with ZTX time stretching, envelope and LFO modulation, and trigger and gate playback. Click noise can be reduced using the snapping function, while samples can be reversed, looped, and edited with manual fade ins, fade outs, and volume adjustments. Samples supporting 32 bit and 64 bit floating point formats can be imported easily via drag and drop.
Composers and producers benefit from flexible articulation maps that provide full control over expressive orchestral sound libraries. Whether you use VSL, EastWest, Spitfire, or Cinesamples, articulation maps can be created or imported to design dynamic instruments and ensembles and program music with an exceptional level of realism. Live performance also benefits greatly, allowing expressive and musically impactful playing.
Virtual sheet music is also available, enabling articulations, tremolos, trills, and other techniques to be entered in a traditional notation style and brought to life within the DAW using suitable virtual instruments.
Digital Performer 11 now allows the recording of standard MIDI notes together with multi channel expression data from MPE controllers such as the Roli Seaboard. Instead of spreading notes and controller data across multiple tracks, all information is captured in a single MIDI stream, with each note carrying its own expressive data. This results in a more intuitive workflow and clearer project organization. Controllers can be shown or hidden per note, pitch variations are displayed directly in the familiar piano roll, and note grids and controller data can be scaled independently. To help you get started immediately, a selection of VST instruments and virtual synthesizers is included.
Digital Performer 11 includes a range of subtle yet highly practical audio tools that save time and streamline production. These include scaling controller data within individual notes, opening sub tracks for MPE expression data per note, and enabling retroactive recording. Transposing and quantizing can be performed with a single click. Visual comfort is improved through scalable fonts, dynamic mixer sliders that adjust with zoom level, and enhanced text clarity on Windows 10 thanks to an optimized text rendering engine.
Everyone knows the situation where a spontaneous melody or riff appears unexpectedly and deserves to be captured. Often, the idea is lost before recording can begin.
Digital Performer 11 solves this with the Retroactive Recording function. Simply select the command and your musical idea is instantly placed on a track, even if recording was never started. This feature works for both MIDI and audio, ensuring no inspiration is ever lost.
The unique Chunks feature allows multiple sequences, songs, and V Racks to be managed within a single project file, making it ideal for film scoring and live show setlists. In Digital Performer 11, chunks can now be organized into folders and playlists.
The chunk list can be divided into two sections for improved management. For example, chunks can be searched in the upper section and assigned to a new location in the lower section, making organization faster and more intuitive than ever.
Novation and Akai pad controllers are now even easier to integrate, allowing you to focus fully on live performance. Use pads to play music in the extensive Clips window, trigger individual clips or entire scenes, apply filter sweeps and effects, and perform live without complex setups.
Owners of Native Instruments and iCon controllers are also fully supported. Digital Performer 11 includes new control surface plug ins for current devices, including the M32 as well as the A Series and S Series keyboards, and iCon control mixing systems such as QCon Pro G2 EX, Pro X XS, Platform Nano, and Platform M and X Series.
Further hardware compatibility
Console 1 and EuCon control surface users also benefit from the update, enjoying a smoother and more intuitive mixing workflow that keeps the focus firmly on the music.
