The Mapex Armory ShellSet AR628F Desert Dune #DW with Chrome hardware is a high-quality drumset with a noble finish. The hybrid shells made from birch and maple impress with warm projection and defined attack as well as sensitive dynamics. Other professional features of the Mapex Armory Shell Set AR628F are SONIClear bearing edges and suspension system. The name Armory for the Mapex drum series is no coincidence, because the Armory drum sets are indeed "armed" with professional features that make these sets loyal companions for studio and stage. With the Armory series Mapex proves again and again that good quality does not have to be expensive.
The Armory series is based on the hybrid shells made from birch and maple. Due to the arrangement of the woods (outer and inner layers birch with maple in between) the Armory drums develop an extraordinary resonance and a strong punch. The shells respond very quickly and sensitively and allow a very dynamic playing style.
The "SONIClear" bearing edge is a further innovation for the Armory drums. The strongly rounded edge ensures an increased head-to-shell contact, which takes the shell tonally into account and emphasises the natural sound of the shell and wood. Furthermore the tuning of the Armory shells is considerably facilitated by this.
The tom suspension of the Armory Drums was borrowed from the much more expensive Saturn IV series and provides an unrestricted resonance development of the boiler. In addition, the force generated when hitting the skin is kept in the kettle and not dissipated by the hardware. The spring-loaded Floor Tom legs of the Armory Drums have the same task.
