MAPEX Black Panther shell set NW628XF White Widow

The name Black Panther stands for exclusive instruments in the Mapex product range. These drums set themselves apart from the rest with great looks and sound. While the Black Panther range consisted of snares only at the beginning, Mapex has released complete Black Panther drumsets as special editions in the past years. Just like the snare drums, these sets are very exclusive in terms of design and sound character.

Black Panther vs White Widow

This set is another nice Black Panther kit, even though the "Arctic White" finish doesn't really fit the black cat theme. Leaving the that aside, the soft, delicate and intricate design with the stunning white finish is a perfect combination with the dark "Brushed Black" hardware.

The shells

The shells of the Black Panther White Widow drumsets consist of 6 plies of American maple. The toms have a shell thickness of 5,1 mm while the bassdrum shel is 7,2 mm thick. The round SoniClear bearing edges provide optimal head to shell contact for a warm and balanced sound. The technology also makes the toms easier to tune. The drums are equipped with the Mapex Sonic Saver hoops with a rounded edge that provide extra power for rimshots while being easy on the drumsticks.

In order for the drums to unfold their full potential, the toms and floor toms are mounted on a special rim for maximum resonance. The bassdrum is undrilled and comes without tom mounts. The toms are mounted on (optional) holder that are attached to the cymbal stands. Two single tom holders are included.
