Perfect symbiosis of traditional and modern guitar making
The Martin 000-18 Modern Deluxe represents a seamless blend of classic craftsmanship and modern innovation. Traditional features such as the dovetail neck joint and protein glue reflect time-honored construction methods, while contemporary touches include liquid metal bridge pins, a carbon fiber bridge plate, and the vintage deluxe neck profile, which offers superb playability. This all-solid guitar delivers a focused mid-range sound with warm lows and clear, articulate highs, thanks to its medium-size 000-14 Fret body shape. The fingerboard provides ample space, making it easy to master even complex fingerings. The elegant headstock is fitted with smooth-turning tuners that ensure easy and precise tuning. One visual highlight of the 000-18 Modern Deluxe is the gold-plated fretwork, which adds a refined touch to the guitar’s overall appearance. A premium case is included for safe transport.
The Modern Deluxe series from Martin & Co. combines modern and traditional features.
Construction and woods
The Sitka spruce top is treated with Martin’s proprietary Vintage Tone System, giving the guitar a well-aged sound and feel straight out of the case. The enhanced clarity in the mid-range makes this instrument particularly well suited for expressive fingerstyle playing. Solid mahogany back and sides enrich the tonal palette with warm low frequencies, resulting in a balanced and full-bodied tone. The flat scalloped X-bracing allows for a fast response and extended note sustain, while the ultra-thin high-gloss finish lets the tonewoods resonate freely. The neck is made of mahogany and topped with an ebony fingerboard that offers a smooth and natural playing surface.
Hardware and design
The bone nut and compensated saddle provide precise intonation across the entire 632 mm scale length. The nut measures 44.45 mm in width, offering comfortable string spacing for both chords and intricate lead lines. Gold-plated open-gear tuners ensure reliable tuning and match the gold-plated frets for a cohesive look. A rosewood binding outlines the top and is paired with a tasteful multi-stripe rosette around the soundhole. The mother-of-pearl "Old Style 18" inlays on the fingerboard and the stylized Martin logo on the headstock round out the elegant and vintage-inspired aesthetic.
