With the Mayones Comodus Classic 5 Natural Gloss, the instrument maker from Gdansk, Poland, once again proves impressively that it knows how to create top-class noble basses. Based on an elaborate neck-through construction, the five-string has a nine-piece neck made of maple and mahogany, as well as body wings made of swamp ash and burl poplar. With Aguilar DCB pickups and an active Aguilar OBP-3 band tone control, which provides an optional passive mode, the electric bass on the amplifier delivers versatile modern sounds. Last but not least, the Mayones Comodus Classic 5 is equipped with the two-piece Mayones X2 bridge and Schaller M4 bass mechanics.
When designing the Mayones Comodus 5, the bass builders from Gdansk pay special attention to a clean and defined reproduction from the low B to the high G string. Accordingly, the heart of the Mayones Comodus is the continuous neck, which is made of five pieces of maple and four separating veneers of mahogany. In addition, the carcase wings are made of swamp ash and a cover of burl poplar set off with wenge veneers. Optimum playing characteristics across all 24 frets of the Pau-Ferro fingerboard are also offered by the slim "D" neck profile in cooperation with the smooth transition between neck and body.
The Mayones Comodus Classic 5 is also Aguilar equipped with pickups and active electronics from the New York specialists for the appropriate noble bass tone. The Aguilar DCB humbuckers convince with an accurate response and detailed reproduction even with the lowest notes on the H-string thanks to the double ceramic bar magnets, while the active and musically tuned Aguilar OBP-3 3-band equalizer allows a precise tuning of the sound. The mini-switch can also be used to set the bass to passive mode, with a separate treble diaphragm for fine-tuning the tone.
Of course, the Mayones Comodus Classic 5 Natural Gloss is equipped with indestructible hardware of the highest quality. The two-part Mayones X2 bridge sits on the body. Divided into a tailpiece and a bridge, the riders of which can be adjusted three-dimensionally and then locked, it significantly supports the harmonic sound development and sustain of the bass. Schaller M4 bass mechanics on the headstock guarantee precise and exact tuning of all five strings.
