The shell and head of the Jr. Djembe Series are synthetic, which reduces the weight of the pieces and provides protection from the weather. A tough, 14mm paracord is used for fixing the head into place and adjusting the tone, while also serving as a shoulder strap, granting the instrument an ease-of-carry suitable for colaberating while camping, musical picnics, fire lit pow wows and festivals where traveling light is crucial.
