The Meinl Sonic Energy Wind Gong Yin & Yang series is marked with the Yin-Yang symbol, the so-called Taijitu. Yin and Yang are probably the best known terms from Chinese philosophy, with the white half representing Yang and the black half representing Yin. Yang stands for the sun, brightness, warmth, active giving and masculinity, whereas yin describes the exact opposite direction, i.e. darkness, calmness, passive giving, femininity, the soft. Although both forces are opposed to each other, they are at the same time related to each other and cannot exist without each other, like heaven and earth or day and night. Thus, it is only through the combination of the two opposites that the whole results - a harmony and inner balance.
