With the Mesa Boogie Walkabout Scout Convertible, the Californian amplifier specialists are addressing bassists who are looking for a compact bass combo with great sound. The combo has an impressive 300 watt output, a sophisticated bass reflex system and variable, semi-parametric tone control. In addition, the amplifier can be easily removed from the combo cabinet and used as a stand-alone device if the integrated loudspeaker is not sufficient.
The preamp of the Mesa Boogie WalkAbout Scout Convertible is based on two 12AX7 tubes, which shape the sound with harmonious dynamics, whereby the entire spectrum between crystal-clear clean and rocky overdrive is covered thanks to the gain control. The sophisticated tone control with three semi-parametric frequency bands allows a precise adjustment of the sound character.
The output stage circuit of the Mesa Boogie Walkabout Scout Convertible is based on a unique hybrid concept. The six MOSFET power transistors are fired by a driver tube that gives the typical warmth and dynamics to the sound. With 300 watts of power, the Basscombo provides sufficient power reserves for every situation.
The 12" speaker of the Mesa Boogie WalkAbout Scout Convertible works together with the tweeter in a precisely tuned bass reflex system that delivers a room-filling, plastic sound image thanks to two strategically placed openings. The transfer frequency and intensity of the tweeter can be fine-tuned.
