The (new!) Ripples from Mutable Instruments is the revised version of the popular predecessor model. In its function as an analog multimode filter, the module has undergone some technical innovations in addition to the externals. There are two audio inputs, the one without knob has a smooth character and comes very close to the original "liquid character" in three of four lowpass/bandpass combinations. The input with knob tends to have heavy distortion depending on the setting, which is a great addition sonically. Lowpass and bandpass can be switched in slope between 12 and 24 dB, for the new highpass this value depends on resonance. The last element in this module is the built-in VCA, which is positioned behind the filter and is hardwired to the lowpass output. There are two CV inputs to control the cutoff parameter, one each for resonance and VCA level. Due to the VCF/VCA combination it is perfectly suited for smaller systems and space-saving setups.
