With the PRS 509 Charcoal Cherry
The PRS 509 is based on a mahogany body in doublecut design, which is finished with an arched top made of solid flamed maple. Thanks to its wide, beveled body cuts, it offers excellent playing characteristics up to the highest positions of the 20-fret fingerboard made of high-quality rosewood. The proven Pattern Regular profile of the mahogany neck with a thickness of 21.4 mm behind the first fret provides the right amount of wood for precise playing in any register. In addition, the PRS 509 features a Nitro over Cellulose (CAB) finish. The blend of cellulose acetate butyrate and acrylic provides a smooth nitro feel with improved heat resistance properties, making the finish less likely to become brittle compared to classic nitro lacquer.
The PRS 509 gets its name from its diverse pickup lineup with enormous tonal range. Armed with five specially designed and tuned single coils, which form humbucker pairs in the neck and bridge positions, the sophisticated circuitry with 5-way blade switch and two mini switches for individual coil-split options of both double coils results in a total of nine different sound options, from warm and full humbucker sounds to sparkling intermediate positions to the clear and attack-rich single coil character of all imaginable guitar sounds. Despite its tonal diversity, the PRS 509's circuitry is easily comprehensible and intuitively designed, making it possible to instantly recall the right sound for any application.
