With the PRS Custom 24/08 Artist Package Copperhead Smokeburst, Paul Reed Smith once again proves that he understands the art of traditional guitar building and the impressive presentation of fine woods. This electric guitar features a breathtaking flamed maple top in Artist quality, which is brought to life by the Copperhead Smokeburst Custom Colour finish. In addition, solid mahogany is used for the body and set pattern-thin neck whilst the ebony fingerboard carries bird inlays of abalone. Furthermore, two PRS 85/15 humbuckers and the sophisticated PRS 408 circuit with separate coil-split mini-switches provide for tonal diversity. High-quality PRS hardware in nickel/gold hybrid look completes the PRS Custom 24-08 Artist Package Copperhead Smokeburst.
For the construction of the PRS Custom 24-08, Paul Reed Smith uses exquisite woods with the best vibration characteristics, which become a unique electric guitar through flawless workmanship. The body is made of solid mahogany while the impressive grain of the Artist Grade flamed maple top is perfectly accentuated by a Custom Colour finish. Furthermore, the pattern-thin mahogany neck is attached to the body via a solid glue joint with a flat neck heel, supporting this electric guitar's lively sound.
In the construction of the PRS Custom 24-08 Artist Package Copperhead Smokeburst, PRS Guitars also emphasises on perfect playability. Therefore, the neck features the matching "Pattern Thin" profile, which corresponds to a modern "C" shape with just 19.8 mm of wood under the first fret and fits perfectly in the hand with its precise curves. With a nut width of 42.9 mm, the fretboard made of Gabon ebony also offers sufficient space for a clean fingering, with PRS Bird inlays made of green Artist Grade Abalone providing the best orientation across the 24 frets.
The PRS Custom 24-08 Artist Package impresses with its versatile tone, providing the right tones for every style of music. Two PRS 85/15 humbuckers in the neck and bridge position take care of the electrical sound conversion. Developed to mark the 30th anniversary of the company from Stevensville, Maryland, both pickups convince with a particularly clear sound that, with extended basses and trebles, offers the perfect basis for classic and modern playing styles in the clean and overdrive channels. Each humbucker also has a mini-switch that can be used to split it into a transparent single-coil without any fluctuations in volume. Furthermore, this guitar features the familiar circuitry with 3-way blade switch as well as master volume and master tone controls.
The PRS Custom 24-08 Artist Package Copperhead Smokeburst is rounded off by high-quality hardware, whose chic nickel/gold hybrid finish blends harmoniously with the noble design. On the body, the tried-and-tested PRS Gen III tremolo system impresses with its smooth handling and allows melodies and chords to be embellished with gently shimmering modulations. With its smooth surface, it also provides the strumming hand with a comfortable resting surface for certain playing techniques. With the classic PRS scale length of exactly 25" (635 mm), the strings run from the bridge towards the headstock, where they are guided with a straight pull to the PRS Phase III locking tuners. Thanks to their semi-open bodies and low weight, they counteract head heaviness and at the same time convince with absolute tuning precision and easy string changing.
