With the PRS Reclaimed Limited S2 Vela Semi-Hollow Paul Reed Smith presents an electric guitar with a unique selection of woods and versatile Vintage sounds. For example, two pieces of wood from the South Brazilian Atlantic rainforests, which were used about 100 years ago for the construction of buildings and could be saved from demolition, are used Peroba Rosa for the ceiling and Brauna Preto for the fingerboard. In addition, the electric guitar offers one on PRS Starla Humbucker the bridge and one PRS Type-D Single Coil on the neck, which together deliver a broad spectrum of authentic Vintage sounds.
The fingerboard of the PRS S2 Vela Semi-Hollow Reclaimed Limited consists of Brauna Petro , which for over a century served as a supporting beam in a building.
For the construction of the PRS S2 Vela Semi-Hollow Reclaimed, Paul Reed Smith relies on a combination of old and young wood. Accordingly, a Brazilian Peroba Rosa ceiling sits on the mahogany corpus, which is equipped with resonance chambers. For more than 100 years it served as the facade of a building and could be saved from its demolition. The Brauna Preto wood, which sits on the glued mahogany neck as a fingerboard, also served as the supporting beam for the same building. In order to take the history of these woods into account, they were left in their original condition and varnished with a wafer-thin nitrocellulose finish, so that discolorations, nail holes and traces of use transform each Instrument into a unique specimen with a strong character.
The ceiling off Peroba Rosa is the former facade of a 100 year old house. The PRS Starle and Type-D pickups capture the character of the old woods excellently.
Of course, the old woods from Brazil's Atlantic rainforests are characterized by a unique sound. The top, in conjunction Peroba Rosa with the resonance chambers of the mahogany body, promises a warm yet expressive tone, the sustain of which is supported by the dense grain of the Brauna Preto fingerboard.
