Stripped to the bare essentials, the S2 has a clean asymmetrical style in its overall aesthetic, perhaps demonstrated best in the bevelled top. The versatile yet distinctive tone of PRS guitars is retained by using the tried and tested maple top/mahogany back combination, and the custom-wound PRS pickups. Paul Reed Smith actually started a new factory in order to deliver guitars of this quality at such a low price, and this is the model that motivated him.
