The Pauly P120 has been the first choice of professional recording studios for demanding vocal and speech recordings for many years. Due to its unique mode of operation, it removes strong pressure impulses caused by plosive sounds or similar from the air stream particularly gently and extremely effectively. Unlike conventional pop filters, there is no sound distortion or coloration with the Pauly P120. Voices remain clear and open in sound, the recording does not sound dull or muddy. The P120 pop filter is the ideal complement to a high-quality condenser microphone and ensures signal fidelity and naturalness right at the beginning of the signal chain.
A Pauly pop filter ring consists of a milled aluminium ring with 41 holes and is covered on both sides with a thin fabric. The fabric is woven with a precisely defined number of meshes and is only slightly taut, so that strong air impulses are gently cushioned, but the forward and backward movement of the sound waves is not impaired. The holes in the aluminium ring deflect the shock waves away to the side and are countersunk on the inside and outside edges so that the airflow does not cause any flow noise. Popp filters from Pauly are tuned so that the overpressure caused by strong plosive sounds is diverted through the holes in the ring in a precisely measured manner.
