To activate the hardware unlock, the controller must be connected to the computer via USB and switched on while the software is running. The software uses a handshake protocol to check whether the controller is unlocked and automatically activates the Pro features without the need to enter a serial number.
The eight generously sized performance pads per channel allow for precise and rapid triggering of Hot Cues and samples. Thanks to the independent pad modes, two different functions can be used simultaneously, one per channel set. This versatility offers maximum creative freedom for every performance.
The large effect levers enable real-time sound manipulation with versatile effects. The DJM-S7 features all 22 built-in Beat FX from the DJM-S11 as well as software effects in Serato DJ Pro and rekordbox. The six FX Select buttons can be customised, while the OLED display always shows the name and beat value of the active effect.
The DJM-S7 allows wireless audio via Bluetooth, adding flexibility to performances. Tracks from a smartphone can be seamlessly integrated into sets – perfect for loops to scratch over, playing requested tracks from the audience, or as a backup if the laptop fails. Audio can be routed to either the master output or one of the channels.
The Loop MIDI function in the effects section of the DJM-S7 enables automated control of software functions by sending repeated MIDI signals at specified beat cycles. Hot Cue, Sampler, and Key Shift are pre-assigned to the FX Select buttons, making Loop MIDI ready to use without additional configuration. Creative possibilities are expanded through precise integration.
