A four-string bass guitar featuring a walnut body, a maple thru-neck, a maple fingerboard and Rickenbacker single-coil pickups.
The Rickenbacker 4003S Fireglo is a 4-string bass guitar featuring a maple body, a maple thru-neck, a rosewood fingerboard, Rickenbacker single-coil pickups, chrome hardware, and a Fireglo finish. This traditional Rickenbacker bass style with dot inlays and no binding was prized by Paul McCartney and Chris Squire when they got their first 4001S models in 1964. Players cherish the traditional look and rounded edges that many claim make it more comfortable than the 4003. The updated 4003S version comes with the improved dual truss rod system. Of course, the famous solid bass tones, ringing sustain and treble punch Rickenbacker are known for make it a dream. This design was once exclusive to the British distributor Rose Morris in the sixties. Iconic curves of maple form the body with a traditional rosewood fingerboard. Dot inlays and no binding make this stand out from the standard 4003.

After 30 years of playing a variety of Fender basses I decided to take the plunge and buy a Rickenbacker. It's very much a 'premium instrument' and I was a little wary of buying one without being able to try it beforehand. However, over the years I've adapted to various neck dimensions and body shapes so, after consulting my Ric-playing friends, I bought the unbound 4003S. The bass arrived after a thorough in-shop set-up and was ready to play straight away. Comfortable body shape, fast neck, well finished frets and an overall air of quality.I recorded a track for a remote collaboration within hours of receiving the double-boxed package. I was most impressed by the tone and tonal variety and after exporting the bass files it wasn't long before the positive feedback rolled in. So it's not just me ! A very high quality bass that will be my No.1 for a long time.
