For decades, the MX-180 was the flagship of the Rodec club mixer series. In the form of the Rodec BUNK 01, its legendary phono/line preamp and equaliser are now available once again in a new, visually appealing configuration. Hi-Fi enthusiasts will appreciate not only the spacious soundstage with precise imaging and warm, detailed reproduction, but also the visually appealing solid wood cabinet, designed and crafted by Dutch wooden furniture designer Eletta Daemen .
Rodec has further developed the technology and added a second, discrete phono stage alongside the popular MX-180 input stage. This second phono stage offers a deeper and more relaxed sound as an alternative to the typical MX-180 sound, which perfectly complements the original Rodec stage, originally designed more for parties. You can switch between the two phono stages at the touch of a button.
Another new feature is an additional gain of +20 dB, allowing quieter records and cartridge systems to be easily adjusted to the desired level. This gaincan be set via a DIP switch on the circuit board. The reissued EQ of the original MX-180 offers a wide control range of +/- 12 dB across the three frequency bands – Low, Mid and High – thus enabling versatile sound shaping. The sound remains musical at all times and serves to optimise the reproduction and adaptation of the audio material. Furthermore, the Rodec BUNK 01 is available in other colours.

In the early 1980s, the RODEC SoundMachines SM200 and SM300 dominated the pro audio market. Their successors were the MX series models, with the MX18, introduced in 1986, quickly becoming the ‘benchmark’ in the DJ sector and serving as the template for modern professional mixers to this day. The MX180, the successor to the MX18, was launched in 1990 and introduced a crossfader and anXLR master output as its main new features. Between 1984 and 2008, over 20 different models in the MX series were released.

The Rodec Bunk 01 preamplifier combines a line input and two differently tuned phono stages in a single unit. One of these is the original MX180 stage, which delivers the unmistakable, lively Rodec party sound. The other is a completely new, discrete stage developed by Rodec, which, with ‘ ’, delivers a deeper, more relaxed sound. You can switch effortlessly between the two phono circuits at the touch of a button. In addition, the phono preamp offers the option to activate a +20 dB gain boost to ensure even quieter records are reproduced perfectly.

The analogue stereo equaliser is a reissue of the original MX-18 EQ, with separatecontrol ranges for Low/High and Presence (Mid). These offer extended and independent tone control to precisely adjust the sound. Unlike the ‘kill EQs’ found on modern DJ mixers, this equaliser is designed to musically refine and optimise your favourite tracks.
