Roli Lumi Keys at a glance

The Lumi Keys from Roli is a new type of MIDI keyboard that introduces keyboard musicians to new ways of playing. The full-size 24-key keyboard allows individual pitch bending per key and generates the four fine-tuned dimensions of Strike, Press, Glide, and Lift instead of the tried-and-true velocity. Polyphonic aftertouch is also generated and supported. The keyboard is fully illuminated and displays a different color scheme depending on the program and application (e.g., scales, arpeggios, chords). To explore the sonic possibilities and integration into the DAW of this sensitive playable keyboard, Roli includes a software package that doubles as learning software. Thanks to four DNA connectors, up to four additional components from the Roli repertoire can be connected to Lumi Keys. If 24 keys are not enough, a second unit can be used to play expressionistically on 48 keys. The compact keyboard connects via USB or Bluetooth, which is also where the built-in battery fits in, which will be enough for several hours of wireless playing.
