The SPL Pre One is a professional two-channel microphone preamplifier designed with discrete analog technology to deliver an exceptionally open and transparent sound. With gain control ranging from +8 to +62 dB on both channels, it easily handles even the most demanding microphones. Each channel includes 48V phantom power for condenser mics and a switchable high-pass filter that attenuates low-frequency noise below 80 Hz.
In addition to the dual mic inputs, the Pre One features a dedicated Hi-Z instrument input engineered for electric guitars, basses, and synthesizers. This input offers ultra-low noise performance, allowing instruments to fully benefit from the preamp's sonic clarity. The electronically balanced mic inputs use Neutrik XLR connectors with gold-plated contacts for optimal signal transmission. To enhance tonal flexibility, each channel includes two EQ presets:
Flair boosts high frequencies for silky top-end clarity.
Contour shapes the signal to sit naturally in dense mixes.
For handling high-level sources such as drums or brass, rear-panel PAD switches provide a 20 dB attenuation, ensuring clean, distortion-free recordings.
The Pre One features balanced line outputs, enabling direct connection to audio interfaces or mixing consoles without signal loss. With a maximum output level of +22 dBu and high headroom on both microphone and instrument inputs, it delivers exceptional audio quality suited for professional recording environments. The wide frequency response of 10 Hz to 200 kHz and an impressively low equivalent input noise of -126 dBu ensure detailed, low-noise performance, even in demanding studio setups.
Power is supplied via a 12 V external adapter, with the internal circuitry generating ±17 V for the analog stages—guaranteeing clean, professional signal levels. Housed in a robust and compact chassis (210 × 49.6 × 220 mm), the Pre One is both durable and space-efficient, making it an ideal choice for studio or mobile recording setups.
