The Sandberg California TM4 Patchwork Rare Wood is a truly unique piece that presents a kaleidoscope of different precious woods and naturally the high standards of craftsmanship of the Brunswick bass manufacturer. Built on the basis of the California TM4, the 4-string E-Bass offers a particularly versatile pickup and electronics configuration, high-quality in-house hardware parts and classic playability. Last but not least, the Sandberg California TM4 Patchwork Rare Wood comes in a practical Sandberg gig bag.
The Sandberg California TM4 Patchwork Rare Wood is a special model with a truly unique wood selection.
The woods used for the California TM4 Patchwork include various types of maple, walnut, bubinga, mahogany, ash, alder and many more.
Multifaceted wood selection
The basic body construction of the Sandberg California TM4 Patchwork Rare Wood is divided into a back and top, each made up of four different woods. From bottom to top, mahogany, ash, alder and mahogany are used for the back, while the top offers a harmonious visual contrast with its four layers of cloud maple, walnut, maple burl and pearlwood. Furthermore, the top and body are separated from each other by a harmonious separating veneer of maple and walnut.
The fingerboard also features a wide range of classic fingerboard woods and inlay options from maple to ebony and pau ferro.
Screw-on neck made from Canadian hard rock maple
The neck is made of particularly hard Canadian maple and is connected to the body via the classic 6-piece bolt-on construction. It has a slim C-profile and allows virtuoso playing in all positions of the fingerboard. This also offers an interesting overview of different types of wood: from the zero fret to the fourth fret, maple with black block inlays is used, while the frets that follow are made of pitch-black ebony. After another layer of maple, pau ferro with white pearl block inlays is used to finish off the highest frets.
With two Delano pickups, split switch for the humbucker, active electronics with 2-band EQ and controls for volume and blend, the Sandberg California TM4 Patchwork produces a wide range of sounds.
Flexible use Delano pickups
Fans of the classic California TM platform will find themselves in familiar sonic territory with the Sandberg California TM4 Patchwork Rare Wood: With a combination of a Delano JMVC single coil and a Delano MCFE humbucker on the bridge, it produces the right balance of pressure and clarity, which can be meticulously tuned using a blend control. Also on board are active electronics with 2-band Equalizerfor additional adjustments to the instrument sound and a split switch that switches the humbucker to split mode if required.
Not only the four Sandberg Machine Head tuners, but also their washers and fixing nuts are put together in different colors.
Multi-Color Hardware
To complement the diverse wood selection of the Sandberg California TM4 Patchwork Rare Wood, Sandberg has given this special model an equally unique arrangement of hardware parts. Not only do the pot caps come in a wide variety of colors in black, gold, chrome and nickel, but so do the string riders of the SandbergBass Bridge 4 and the four Sandberg Machine Heads. In contrast to the headstock veneer made of buckeye maple, walnut and bubinga, the in-house bass tuners also provide an interesting contrast here and are part of the classic headstock silhouette.
