The basic construction of the California TT4 Passive Fretless follows the classic specifications with alder for the body and maple for the six-bolt neck. A special feature, however, is the fretless fretboard made of hard Pau Ferro wood, which gives every played note the singing fretless sound with smooth sound development. So that even inexperienced fretless bassists can intonate each note cleanly, fretlines and side dots mark the positions.

Single Coils with Alnico Magnets
The electrical tone conversion of the California TT4 Passive Fretless is handled by two Sandberg single coil pickups, which transmit the singing fretless bass sound of the 4-string with detailed dynamics to the amplifier. Here, thanks to the traditional design with two alnico magnets per string, the passive pickups deliver a classic Vintage bass sound whose high transparency harmonizes every note. Via the straightforward passive electrics with two volume pots and a tone control can furthermore be called up a wide range of different sound nuances, so that the four-string Bass allows play in any genre.

The solidly built Sandberg Bridge 4 supports the lively and sustain-rich sound character of the bass on the one hand, and on the other hand, thanks to the three-dimensionally adjustable tailpieces, not only intonation and string action can be perfectly adjusted, but also the string spacing can be adjusted to one's own preferences. At the headstock, zero fret and saddle guide the strings to the Sandberg Machine Heads, which convince with absolute tuning stability and counteract unwanted head heaviness due to their low weight.
