Traditional construction with short scale length
For the construction of the Sandberg California VS Lionel, the Braunschweig bass builders rely on a shorter 30 inch scale length, which not only supports a particularly full bass sound but also offers exceptionally smooth playing characteristics in combination with the comfortable C-profile of the six bolt maple neck. The four string bass also features an alder body with ergonomic contours, providing excellent balance both on a strap and when played seated.
With a Black Label split-coil pickup and traditional passive circuitry, the Sandberg California Shortscale delivers full bass tones.

For electrical sound conversion, Sandberg installs an in house Black Label split coil pickup in the optimal position of the string vibration. At the amplifier, the compact four string bass delivers a rich vintage style tone with growling low mids and a powerful low end shaped by the short scale length, allowing every note to be felt with authority. A traditional passive circuit with volume and tone controls enables precise adjustment of the overall sound.
