The Sennheiser MKH 8040 is a compact, high-end condenser microphone with a cardioid polar pattern . This microphone is ideal as an all-round microphone for acoustic instruments, as a support microphone in orchestras and, thanks to its strong directional effect, for acoustically problematic rooms and interviews. It is also characterized by its very wide and balanced frequency response, which guarantees authentic transmission of sound events. Furthermore, it is extremely low-noise and low-distortion and its transformerless design effectively prevents phase problems and sound distortion. The special feature of the Sennheiser 8000 series is the modularity of the products, which means that the capsules of the microphones can be easily removed and replaced with another (with a different directional characteristic). A phantom voltage of 48V is required to operate the device. The two MKH 8040 microphones are also perfect for use with stereo recording techniques such as intensity stereophony or equivalence stereophony.
