The Vi1 generally provides the same features as the larger Vi consoles - but with the DSP engine and inputs/outputs integrated into the user interface. In addition, the controls have been tailored to a compact and affordable stand-alone console with external connectivity.
A large "Wide Screen Vistonics" screen simultaneously displays the information of 16 channels/buses, the master screen with all LED indicators and the main menu. In this solution, the rotary controls were not positioned IN the touchscreens but directly below them.
The Vi1 is equipped with 4 Lexicon units (identical to those on the larger Vi consoles) and BSS FCS960 graphic EQs in the 27 output buses. Fader Glow and 40-bit floating point processing are also included, as are the gang and copy/paste functions familiar from the larger consoles, and the 24 tie lines. All other sections (scene automation, talkback, monitoring options) are also identical to the larger consoles. Shows and libraries created on the Vi6, for example, can be easily loaded into the Vi1 and vice versa. The Vi1 is also programmable via the Virtual Vi editor software. The rear card slot can accept any card from the Vi Local Rack. This allows for connection to an external Soundcraft stagebox as well as integration of other I/O formats.
