The Soyuz 017 Tube combines the legendary character of great vintage microphones with modern precision and craftsmanship. Developed by hand, it delivers a warm, detailed sound that lends vocals and acoustic instruments in particular an impressive depth and silky transparency. With its finely tuned S17 capsule, it succeeds in capturing even complex transients across the entire frequency spectrum precisely without losing any of its musicality.
Like all Soyuz microphones, the 017 Tube is made entirely by hand. The capsules are tuned by hand, housings are precisely milled and the transformers are wound in-house. A gold-coated 34 mm diaphragm forms the heart of the microphone and is largely responsible for its characteristic tone. The design is complemented by a high-quality tube circuit based on a 6ZH1P military pentode, which ensures the unmistakably smooth, round tube sound.
The microphone is connected to the power supply via a six-pin cable, which in turn provides a three-pin XLR output for direct connection to an audio interface.
The 017 Tube impresses with a balanced mix of warmth, depth and silky high frequencies. This makes it particularly suitable for vocals, strings and instruments with complex overtones. Even in dense arrangements, it retains transparency and delivers an organic, musical sound that blends effortlessly into productions.
The Soyuz 017 series is available in two versions: a tube version (Tube) and a FET version. Both models share the same capsule, housing design and basic characteristics, but differ in detail:
