Stagg SV-CE Cello Stand Black, with Mount for Bow

This Stagg cello stand is brilliant. It is very study and I feel confident leaving an expensive cello in it! The stand folds down really easily so it's perfect for taking on tour. There's a bow holder on the back; again, it is strong and I feel confident letting my bow hang there! Would thoroughly recommend this product. Also, the shipping was very quick and the product was well packaged - brilliant!

Design detail is very poor. The neck support is supposed to slide inside a hollow tube and be secured at the required height by a screw. The neck support has a groove onto which the screw should tighten. But the groove does not continue to the bottom of the neck support. So, when one tries to slide the neck support into the hollow tube, one fails because the housing of the tightening screw obstructs the bottom of the neck support. So, the neck support is unable to be attached to the base of the stand. I've had to extend the groove by blacksmithing the bottom 25mm or so of the neck support. Now I can get the neck support into the hollow tube. Also, the height of the supporting arms which carry the bottom the cello cannot be adjusted to a height where one can install the cello onto the stand when the cello's spike is fully extended. This means that each time I want to put the cello on the stand, I have to shorten the length of the spike. Then, when I want to play again, I have to extend the spike. I shouldn't have to keep adjusting the spike. For the afore-mentioned two reasons, this stand is not fit for purpose.
