The most striking feature of the Sterling by Music Man JP160 is undoubtedly the fivefold screwed neck made of thermally treated maple. By "baking" the neck blank in a vacuum, Roasted Maple loses a large part of its residual moisture, making the wood more stable and insensitive to climate fluctuations. Thanks to the flat D-profile and the matt back, the neck also offers the perfect basis for virtuoso electric guitar playing, which is supported by the pronounced forearm contour of the mahogany body.
Two hot humbuckers are used as pickups on the SBMM John Petrucci JP160, whose precisely defined sound stages virtuoso solos just as skilfully as tight riffs and cleanly played melodies or arpeggios.
