The DS-M from Synthrotek is a fully analog drum or percussion module and is the "bored reincarnation" of the Coron DS-8 percussion synthesizer from the 80's. The sound is generated by a triangle core VCO and a noise generator, which are mixed in their volume via the mix control. Three different noise variants can be selected via the color switch. Attack and decay envelopes control the VCA, the LFO modulates the oscillator frequency down to ring modulation. The voltage for the trigger input can be freely adjusted via the sensor controller and controls the overall volume of the module. The sweep control controls the pitch envelope of the oscillator. Since the oscillator can be played over four octaves (C0-C4 ) tonally, the module is also suitable as a normal synth voice!
Wooden percussions, metallic cymbals and hi-hats, from snare to ultra-deep kick, as well as synth sounds, the DS-M can do just about anything (except really good claps) and is probably one of the most versatile drum modules for the Eurorack at only 8HP.
