The
Tannoy Gold 7 (Single)
is a 300W Near-Field Studio Reference Monitor designed for Recording, Editing, Mixing and Mastering applications. Gold Series Monitors are available in 3x sizes to cater for different Studio spaces.
The middle member of the Series, the Gold 7 is equipped with a 6.5" Coaxial Driver with a 1" Tweeter specially designed and optimised by the manufacturer for the most accurate and linear frequency response possible. The Driver Horn is designed to allow the widest possible listening angle.
To adapt the Monitor there is a Control for Volume and Treble on the Front Panel and a 3-Position Switch (-4/-2/0dB) on the Rear Panel for bass reproduction. Thanks to its front bass reflex port, the Gold 7 can be placed close to walls.
Separate Amplifiers for Woofers and Tweeters deliver a total of 300W in a powerful, low-distortion Class-AB Circuit. An automatic shutdown can also be activated.
Connection to an Audio Interface or Mixing Console is made either via XLR or Balanced Jack Inputs. An additional Stereo Mini-Jack Input can be used to simultaneously feed in another Audio Signal, which can be picked up again via Monitor Link and passed on to the next Monitor. The Gold 7 can play either the Left or the Right Channel of this signal.

I got to hear a pair of Tannoy System 800's and was blown away by the clarity and depth. I've been through several entry and mid range monitors with none of them really performing well for my uses. So I was very happy when I saw the Gold series and was very happy when I saw the price. Now having them for a few days, these have the clarity I was looking for, really good definition across the frequency range. They definitely produce frequencies lower than the quoted 65Hz. You can hear what's going on down low and I'm even catching other noises in recordings that I could only hear on really expensive monitoring setups. The stereo image is really clearly defined and a great center. These are a huge value! I almost ordered the 8's but I'm glad I went with the 7's. I don't feel like I'm missing anything.
Very satisfying sound for a monitor in this price range. Bass not too heavy like you would expect from this size monitor. After calibration my system using room calibration this monitor even had a more forward sounding bassend which was quite nice. Top end can be adjusted from the front control pot and one position to the right worked well for my system. All in all this was a fantastic buy.
