Taylor's 100 series:

Excellent instruments for beginners and advanced users with solid spruce top and Sapele plywood. The 100s are characterized by their robustness and resistance to temperature and humidity as well as by a present sound and pleasant playability. With the 2016 models, Taylor provides all 100-series guitars with on-board electronics with the state-of-the-art ES-2 pickup system.

Dreadnought body:

For almost a century, the powerful and versatile dreadnought construction has been inspiring both flat and finger pickers of various genres. It is one of the best-known types of Western guitars and a true all-rounder with a wide tonal spectrum. Deeply rooted in bluegrass and folk music, the dreadnought is suitable for strumming as well as flatpicking with a powerful touch.

Expression System 2:

The Expression System 2 is an upgrade to the previously used version of the in-house pickup system. In contrast to previous practice, the transducer of the ES2 is not located underneath but behind the bar insert. This was because the high tensile force of the strings limits the vertical vibration of the inlay, but it can swing back and forth. The piezo pickup takes advantage of this movement to produce a warm, full and less biting, bright sound.
